The Pan-Malaysian Islamic Front, known in Malay as Barisan Jemaah Islamiah Se-Malaysia (BERJASA), is a political party in Malaysia that was established in 1977. It emerged from a split in the Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS), with its founders seeking to create a political platform that would more rigorously pursue the implementation of Islamic principles and laws within the Malaysian political framework. BERJASA's formation was partly in response to internal disagreements within PAS regarding the direction and strategies for achieving an Islamic state in Malaysia.
